We ended our meeting this month with the question:

Next week Monday January 20 the neighbor of this months Koan will be in Office in the US.
Can you create a high five moment with him?

Ahh, Zenryu threw us a challenge! Now I’m picturing our newly elected President stomping on the floor above my head and yelling various expletives! I’m hoping that some of these surprise moments might arise when something so unexpectedly positive happens that I’m left stunned and without words. Until then I can imagine I’ll approach this time being very wary while also trying to be as mindful as I can of my own thoughts and actions.
