Please join Petra Zenryu Hubbeling and Peg Kendo Murray for this 3 day “commuter” retreat in person (limited spaces) or online to sit in silence together and to explore this simple (although not easy!) practice we call Zen. We’ll use the words of Shunryu Suzuki from a little book of his teachings entitled, “Not Always So” for our reflection and discussion. The format of this retreat allows for participants to engage in mindful discussion as an integral component of our practice. It is not necessary to purchase the book.
The retreat is structured so that sangha members who live a little further away from BLMZC have time to commute daily to and from home with no late nights or early mornings. A simple soup and salad lunch (vegan and gluten free) will be offered each day. As with all offerings of Bread Loaf Mountain Zen Community, participation is free of charge. Petra Zenryu Hubbeling and Peg Kendo Murray are both novice priests connected to Bread Loaf Mountain Zen Community. Petra provides administrative support to the Upaya Zen Ctr Chaplaincy Program and BLMZC and is active in Zen Peacemaker activities in the Netherlands, where she resides. Peg Kendo Murray has lived and worked at BLMZC since 2018 where she serves the sangha as a Dharma Holder (hoshi) and senior practitioner.
