The Infinite Circle Community is a circle of committed practitioners within Bread Loaf Mountain Zen Community. It is open to those who have received the precepts (jukai) and who wish to continue walking the Bodhisattva path in everyday life, supported by a community of shared vow.
The name Infinite Circle is inspired—used with permission—by the title of a book by Bernie Glassman Roshi, which explores three foundational teachings that shape our practice: the Heart Sutra, the Identity of Relative and Absolute, and the Zen Peacemaker Precepts. These teachings form the core of the Zen Peacemaker Order and continue to guide our path of engaged, relational practice.
We are a dispersed community, with members living across different geographies and life circumstances, united by a shared commitment to living the precepts, bearing witness, and supporting one another as each person weaves practice into the fabric of daily life. We do this through weekly opportunities for personal and collective practice, study, service, and reflection.
Our shared life is shaped by the Book of Common Practice, a unique resource developed by Bread Loaf Mountain teachers. It offers monthly themes, weekly reflections, sutra study, and suggested acts of service to engage with throughout the year. Members gather regularly through weekly online offerings—including meditation, conversation, and dharma-based community connection.
Members also have access to a private section of our website, where all resources and practice materials are available.
Participation in the Infinite Circle Community is renewed each year, and there are multiple times throughout the year when new members are welcomed into this growing circle of practice, care, and commitment.
We ask that members also support the life and work of Bread Loaf Mountain—including projects like Gather and The Grove—through a monthly financial contribution. We suggest $108 per month, but ask only that you give according to your means and circumstances.
