‘Oh that my monk’s robe
Were wide enough
To gather up all
The suffering people
In this floating world.’*
We will get together for a brief workshop to explore the stories and vows of Jizo bodhisattva – the Bodhisattva who represents the aspect of our practice that is there to be a guide when we are in the hell-realms of certain parts of our lives.
We will reflect on the significance of this bodhisattva energy in our lives and in our world.
After a check-in, Eisho will give a brief reflection about this bodhisattva – the history, the practice context etc., and will then share some stories about Jizo. We will all then be invited to share our own experiences of being in hell-realms, the
times that we have been there for others, or someone has been there for us.
An introduction to this workshop will be sent out beforehand so that we have some context before the workshop itself.
*’When I see
The misery
Of those in this world
Their sadness
Becomes mine
Oh that my monk’s robe
Were wide enough
To gather up all
The suffering people
In this floating world
Nothing makes me
More happy than
The vow
To save everyone’
